Mark Ryan Wine Dinner – May 19th & 20th, 2013

Around 1998-1999, when Bis on Main first opened, Mark McNeilly was one of the countless wine rep’s who would show up every week to taste wine with me and fight for every list placement and wine by the glass he could get. Occasionally, he would mention something about making his own wine, which to me was as fascinating as watching paint dry. If you removed the expletives, my usual message to Mark was that he should worry about getting my order right and delivered on time.

Talk about eating your words… Fifteen years later Mark Ryan McNeilly and Mark Ryan Winery are at the apex of the Washington wine industry. His iconic red wines such as Dead Horse, Long Haul and The Dissident have garnered high scores, a loyal following and rock star status for the founder, wine maker and former wine rep.

We are proud to welcome Mark and seven of his current releases to Bis on Main the evenings of Sunday, May 19 and Monday, May 20 for a six course dinner prepared by Chef Tom Black. Wines will include 2010 Dead Horse, 2010 Long Haul, 2011 Black Love Pinot Noir and 2012 Viognier to name a few.

The dinners will start promptly at 5.30pm on Sunday and 6.30pm on Monday. Click here to view the menu.

As always, Bis on Main Wine Dinners are delicious, informative – but most importantly a lot of fun!

Seating is limited and likely to sell out quickly. Cost is $120 per person, and reservations can be made by phone at 425-455-2033, or by email at bisonmain@msn.com. We look forward to seeing you!

A Happier ‘Happy Hour’

Great news for those of you who enjoy stepping out a bit later for some great food, impressive wines by the glass and big and beautiful cocktails.

We want everyone to know that our Late Night Happy Hour will be getting much much better as of April 15th!

  • MORE TO LOVE: Happy Hour will now include great deals on our specialty cocktails and beers, as well as well drinks, wines by the glass and our awesome bar menu.
  • BE HAPPY LONGER: Late Night Happy Hour will now start at 8.30 Monday through Thursday evenings in our Bar and Lounge.  Last food orders are at 10.30pm. (Friday and Saturday nights you’ll still need to wait until 9pm to get Happy)
  • SUNDAY HAPPINESS: You can now get Happy on Sunday evenings all night from 4.30pm until closing.  ( You’ve gotta get your food order in by 9 on the sabbath).  A Bis Rye Manhattan for nine bucks, $3 for a Stella Artois and an unbelievable Steak Frites for $14 and the harsh reality of Monday morning won’t be so harsh.

Chef Tom Black

Bis on Main is proud to announce the hiring of Chef Tom Black as our Executive Chef.  Many of you are familiar with Tom from his time as Chef at Fuller’s Restaurant, The Barking Frog in Woodinville and as a consultant and private Chef.

With Tom’s proven palate, calm demeanor and measured approach to kitchen management we hope to continue improving the quality of the food and service we offer our great customers.

The addition of Chef Black is an opportunity to make our already great food even better, without deviating from the style and essential’s that have established Bis on Main as one of the Seattle areas best restaurants for 15 years.

We invite you to come in and see for yourself what Tom is doing in the kitchen and find out why Bis on Main is the favorite for many of Seattle and the Eastside’s most notable residents.
